My Favorite Things

Here are my absolute can't-live-without! favorite items! Beauty, household, health, horses and more!

From products that are saving me time and money (and most importantly my SANITY!) to stuff that I find just simply works the best! I'm going to link the pictures to the individual websites where you can find these items. If you have any questions about any of them or have tried some yourself and would like to voice your opinion and experience, feel free to email me or comment below! Would love to hear what you think!

So here we go!

While I have eased up on wearing Make-up a little (working outside or playing with the horses, most days in Texas are a complete waste of Make-up because the weather will make sure that the Mascara ends up on your chin and your eyes look better than that of a raccoon's within minutes), I still always and I mean ALWAYS get done up when hopping in the car and leaving the property.
And like most girls I absolutely LOVE lashes. I'm jealous of my Mini horse and Cocker who have the longest lashes I've ever seen! Mine? Not so much. And because I'm pretty active and not just sitting in an air-conditioned office all day every day, I don't wanna deal with the hassle of fake lashes which would probably not last longer than a day or two for me anyway. And they're EXPENSIVE!
So I've tried several mascaras in an attempt to enhance, lengthen and thicken my not so naturally gorgeous lashes and while they did an "ok" job, none of them really blew me away.

But then I found IT! "It" is NOT fake lashes, no extensions, as simple as 1, 2, 3 - just about as easy as putting on mascara and the best part? It will give you such glam awesome lashes it will make your eyes stand out in the most beautiful way and for a REALLY affordable price! Water resistant but easily washes off when you remove your Make-up at night!

I mean LOOK AT THIS! (and yes, these are my peepers :) ) I'm not blessed with long natural lashes and no mascara could EVER do this! I'm addicted!

You can find it HERE!

The No.1 Horse item for me and my absolute "So-happy-I-found-it" is the
Dr. Cook bitless bridle! My horse had a few "issues" with his standard Dressage bridle. I won't go into detail but I think the term "deer-in-the-headlight" (combined with backing up rapidly) upon me walking out of the tack room with the bridle in my hand brings it to the point.

So about a year ago I did some research and found a few not so happy but WAY more very happy riders who are or have used the Dr. Cook bitless bridle. The company has a superb customer service. And since my horse happens to be a big guy with a petite nose, the "standard" sizes didn't fit. The company will let you customize your bridle so they let me get the large headstall with the medium noseband.
It fit perfectly and I tried it out from the ground first, making sure he would "give" and turn, respond to the reins the way he would have to under saddle. Lunging worked great and to this day I have way better control over my sometimes quite crazy guy when he wears this bridle vs. a knotted rope halter or bitted bridle! I ride dressage and although the term is technically not correct due to the absence of a "bit" but he goes "on the bit" quite nicely, rounds his back and steps under - from a distance you wouldn't even guess he's not wearing one! I've been riding in it this entire year while my old bridle and bit are collecting dust!
Seeing how much happier my horse is I love it SO much that I've become an advocate for bitless riding and an Official Retailer for the Dr.Cook Bitless Bridle! I've launched my new blog "Better Bitless" where you can find more information about the bridle and bitless riding and "ILonka's Tack Room" where you can purchase the bridle and accessories (There's a HUGE selection and colors!). And if you're located in Central Texas you can "Try before you buy", just contact me at and I will come see you and your horse and you can try the bridle and see for yourself how great it works!

If you would rather ride your horse without metal in its mouth, enjoy the softness without them fighting the bit, have better control (they can't evade the bit!) and enjoy the conveniences of the bitless bridle (you can tie them with it and they can graze freely while taking a break on the trail plus it's superfast and easy to put on) give it a try! You have nothing to loose - if you don't like it, return it! I know my horse and I are very grateful that this bridle exists and I'm hoping that sometime in the near future we'll be able to enter competitions where the bitless is allowed! I sure never wanna go back to having to put a bit in his mouth!

Happy Riding!
